Chauncy your Blog is beautiful. And the post about moving to Barcelona is as though someone far superior with the pen was telling the tale of my moving to Milano. No job, no idea what I am to do, changed values and priorities....all of it. I hope things are working out for you and please don´t hesitate to get in touch if you find yourself in Milano or Stockholm anytime sooner or later.

I came across your blog because I was googling shazia sikander's work (she's amazing right?). seems like you express some things another twenty-something mess can relate to. and then every once in a while, arthur russell is nice to listen to.

a little window into another side of the world, in St. Lucia where I've lived most my life and where I identify myself with, having a child is seen so overwhelmingly as a must for women: I don't have a child and I figure at this point I'm past that - people still ask me about having a child more than anything else that they ask me about. It's almost the first thing you get asked when you meet a stranger - especially by other women - your children are seen as proof of your sexuality, that you're still hot, don't mind the baby father often isn't likely to stay around and keep sampling your hotness.

Kids have kids here, lots of under 20 mothers - marriage is not a necessary part of the equation - an alarming number still express the thought that having a guy's kid will 'catch' him - keep him with them - the guys regularly express their deep desires to "make a chil' with you" and the girls and women keep on believing.

This is way too deep an issue to get into in a comment I realize, and I don't want people to think there aren't great loving families in St. Lucia and in fact one upside is that we really don't suffer the kind of traumas of divorce and half-sisters and half-brothers that more nuclear family oriented societies do...well, like I said, a little window in -

Hey Chaucery, I just found you via LinkedIn Nest group which I just joined - I think I've found a group of people I want to get to know better.

In my little corner of the world I'm re-becoming a jewelry artist and development consultant for creative products - arts, crafts, gifts. Broke and happy to be doing what I think finally represents me and strangely unafraid of the enormity of what I'm trying to do and how small it really is in the world scheme of things!

From what little I've gotten to know about you in the past hour of browsing, you seem like an adventurous spirit with a good mind and heart - I wish you all the success that you seek in Barcelona and more

I just found your message here during a search and I can see that you have probably already visited Japan.
I have been there over 30 times from New York.
I have been totally immersed into the culture and I am now writing a book on what I have gleaned from my time in Japan.
I also started a page on myspace to show a small sample from the twenty-thousand photos I now have taken by a French photographer who traveled with me there on my most recent visit.
I hope that you enjoyed your visit and I would love to hear about your impressions.
Sincerely
Cleve Douglass

There are some really amazing (shocking and to-the-point) ads out there. Especially about sexual abuse. There was this one in England about pedophiles on the internet (circa 2003). It use to give me the heebie jeebies everytime I saw it.

I'm so of the same mind that I've started an entire website just for women who travel solo to share my passion with other women. You'd be surprised at how many of us there are. When I went backpacking solo a few years ago - I was on the road for three years - I kept running into other solo women everywhere, even in the most unlikely places! I've had wonderful fun and experiences on my own and I travel solo each time I can. It really helps open up the world for me.

That is so true! I am much more interested in Children's wear because I see that people are paying more money to "dress up" kids. In Beverly Hills, they opened up a shop called Fashionology LA, a shop where tweens can CHOOSE what they want to wear. Even in fashion, kids are maturing too fast. In Bambini, a kids fashion magazine, the clothes look like adult clothes shrunken to kids sizes. Did you know there are thong underwear for babies? Incredulous.

I adore Nina Simone. It's lovely to curl up with her and a nice cup of Earl Grey.
Listen to some Lila Downs and be inspired.

I've been around the world and been intensely in love. Now I am out of love. Enjoying all the same.
